Over 40 years ago Jim Allen started the first Compleat Angler store in Melbourne's CBD. Owner Chris Baty has been behind the counter of retail fishing stores for over 30 years and his knowledge of fishing has seen him write for national magazines, co-host fishing radio shows along with being a regular guest on Micah Adam's Adventure Angler series.
Manager Michael Winterton has spent the better part of his life in the tackle trade as well as running a successful guiding business in the NT. He has also guided throughout Tasmania's Highlands and has fished across Australia and around the world. It's knowledge that you can draw on yourself so you too can become a better angler. Learn new knots, keep up to date with cutting edge techniques or find out about new exotic fishing locations.

I go there because the second floor of 383 Flinders Lane is home to my ultimate toy shop... The Compleat Angler Melbourne is a veritable Aladdin's Cave of treats and surprises for the seriously addicted fisho. I defy any keen angler to spend an hour in there between those tightly-packed shelves and not find something that they simply must have! It's quite simply one of the best little tackle shops on the planet.
